Abstract
In this thesis PostgreSQL and MariaDB management systems are compared. The following parameters are compared: data volume, platform support and security. During the work, performance was measured for the following database management systems: PostgreSQL, MariaDB and MariaDB with the source code of which was changed. A tool called HammerDB was used to measure performance. This thesis describes how to set up a database management system, performance measurement process, encountered problems with their solutions and possible causes.
