Abstract
In this paper we look closely some of the properties of a good keyboard layout. We reviewed a common keyboarda layout creator and analyzer Carpalx. We found that the number of options is great but it also allows the possibility of subjectivity.
We built a web site that asked voulteers to type in certain texsts that contained all the symbol paris possible. All the keystrokes and timings were stored in a database. This allows to create a truly optimized keyboard layout based on real data.
