An Elective Course on User Experience Design for Secondary School

Abstract
Teaching informatics at general education schools is becoming gradually more popular, but most of those courses are robotics and programming related. Many students consider informatics as programming and the knowledge of other branches of informatics, such as user experience design, is rather poor. User experience design is an important part of web application’s development and improvement, but usually elective courses on user experience design are not offered in Estonian general education schools. This can be explained by the lack of teaching materials in Estonian on that topic. An elective course on user experience design for secondary school was created in this thesis. Based on a created user experience design book, topics were divided into 7 weeks, when lessons take place. An information material for teacher was created, which includes lesson plans and activities, recommended examples and homeworks.
