Abstract
When teaching programming, attention must be paid to assessing the level of students' knowledge and skills both at the beginning and at the end of the study. This can be done in the form of a test. The aim of the master's thesis is to create a validated test, which can be used to assess students' knowledge and skills at the beginning and/or end of the programming course "Introduction to Programming". The first chapter of the work provides an overview of validated tests used in Russia and the USA. The second chapter describes the test creation procedure and the piloting process. The test created as a result of the work was piloted as a preparatory test for the accounting work of the course “Introduction to Programming”. It can be said that the test can be used to assess the knowledge and skills of students in this course.
