Abstract
The study implements a prototype virtual reality system based on needs mapped using interviews and theory. The system was evaluated in a mathematics lesson to enhance teaching counting and estimating the number of elements. 1-to-3-minute VR sessions consisted of 360° videos and parameterized simulations. Based on the private feedback of students collected using the VR system and verbal feedback form the observers, the lesson was a success, but further research is needed on the method and content creation tools need to be improved, so that no specific training is needed and they would be easy for teachers to use.
