Data Storage in Polymeric Memristor Fiber

Abstract
In this thesis, a new method for data storage is proposed and experimentally validated. Data is stored in chemical bonds between chains of an electrically conductive polymer using ultraviolet radiation. By measuring the conductive patterns in the fiber, the stored data can be restored. In addition, an analysis of the technology is conducted to study properties like data density and writing and reading speed of the fiber. The calculated theoretical values are comparable to the newest generation of magnetic tape standard LTO-9. The promising initial findings suggest potential to be an alternative data storage technology that could fill the growing data storage deficit and should be investigated further.
