Abstract
The aim of the thesis is to update the assessment tests for the 1st and 2nd summative tests of the „Computer Programming“ course at the University of Tartu. For this purpose the assessment tests and feedback surveys were analyzed from the 2022/2023 fall semester. The analysis aimed to identify deficiencies in the test questions, grading and format. In addition, errors in students’ test responses were identified and efforts were made to find the causes behind the errors. In the analysis of the feedback surveys, the focus was on the students’ feedback regarding the assessment tests. As a result of the work, guidelines for creating the updated assessment tests and sample tests for illustration were developed. These guidelines aim to ensure that creating the tests would be unambiguous for the teaching staff.
