Advanced error-correcting codes for next generations of wireless communication standards

Organization
Coding and Information Transmission
Abstract
Error-correcting codes used in 5G standard are well-optimized low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. However, the recent progress in information and coding theory allows to further improve performance of communication systems (to lower the decoding complexity, to increase the bandwidth efficiency, to reduce the bit error rate etc.) Search for better codes can be done in several directions. In particular, tools from combinatorics and graph theory can be combined with modern programming approaches (genetic algorithms, neural networks).
In this project, the student will design new methods for searching for good LDPC codes.
