Abstract
Most modern mobile devices use a GPS module to determine location. This process can however be slow so other technologies such as WiFi are used to speed up the positioning process. Another advantage of WiFi positioning is that it can be used to determine a person's exact location within a building. The goal of this thesis would be to create a database of the WiFi routers located in the Delta Building and the strength of the signal of these routers at various locations in the building.
This database can then be used to show a person which floor or room they are currently located or to even navigate a person from their current location to another room.
Various aspects of the topic:
• Build the WiFi database
• Write a script (python) that can be used to determine person’s location in Delta
• Create an Android app (or iPhone) that can pinpoint a person’s location in Delta
• Create an app / script that can be used to navigate the halls of Delta
