Abstract
A digital tachograph is a device fitted to a vehicle that digitally records its speed and distance, together with the driver's activity selected from a choice of modes. The latest generation digital tachographs employ smartcards and cryptography.

The task for the student is to study how digital tachographs employ cryptography and analyze the risks the smart tachograph aims to prevent and the threat model under which the smart tachograph is secure.
