A systematic survey of edge-cloud continuum simulator

Organization
Mobile & Cloud Computing Laboratory
Abstract
Edge computing refers to making the computation related resource available at the edge of the network, possible atop the edge devices or at the gateway level to which edge devices are connected to. Edge computing is basically introduced to deploy the latency and privacy sensitive computation without sending the data or surrounding information to the cloud.
In this thesis, students need to go through the simulators, their features, such as visualisation support, network support, orchestration, local analysis, edge content delivery, machine state, mobility and migration support, etc. The students should have a basic knowledge on cloud computing, IoT. The student may need to do a small-scale experiment with different simulators, such as IoTSim-Edge, EdgeCloudSim, iFogSim, etc. At the end of the thesis, the student will have a strong knowledge on edge computing and IoT.
