Teaching Hash Tables in University Courses

Abstract
Hash tables are one of the data structures that second year Computer Science students have to learn at the University of Tartu. This paper examines how other universities in Estonia as well as other universities around the world approach teaching the same subject. The paper details the information and exercises presented in different university courses. The aim of the paper is to see whether teaching hash tables is accomplished differently in other universities other than the University of Tartu as well finding out where the differences lie. The information obtained can be used to improve the teaching of has tables at the University of Tartu. The purpose is achieved by analysing the materials collected during the research process.
