Creating an Estonian Bird Image Classifier Using a Pretrained Model

Abstract
At the time of writing in 2022, an image classification model did not exist for Estonian birds. The work aims to create a classifier for Estonian bird species, allowing beginner Estonian bird hobbyists to check the bird species they captured. A new dataset was created to complete this model. After that, a pretrained image classification model was retrained to classify Estonian birds using the dataset and different data augmentation methods. The completed model is analysed at the end of the thesis, and potential improvements are proposed.
